I’ve shared a new piece in Hindustan Times on what I believe is the next defining phase of India’s energy transition.

The priority now goes beyond adding renewable capacity; it lies in building a system capable of delivering clean power reliably, round-the-clock and at scale.

Hybrid projects, RTC renewables, storage and smarter grids will determine how effectively India can meet its rising energy demand while staying on a net-zero pathway.
This transition must now shift from ambition to integration and execution.

Climate change is pushing India’s electricity grid to its limits. Recent heatwaves have exposed critical gaps in infrastructure planning, as power networks across several states struggled to cope with extreme temperatures and surging electricity demand.

Projects such as the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad Digital Twin initiative are already exploring how AI can integrate real-time energy, traffic, emissions and urban infrastructure data into a single connected system.

As climate events become more frequent and energy demand continues to rise, the focus is gradually shifting towards infrastructure systems that can anticipate stress, respond faster and operate in a more co-ordinated manner.
