You might or might not be aware that I've made an article on RuneScape Gold the subject March this year, focusing on the QA that was published at the time, where Paul and others hinted at Zaros returning. It was a pleasant coincidence. Let's hear your thoughts.

Mining: Mining is a useful tool that can be utilized to start your crafting. If you are just looking to mine, level 85 (unless you're looking for the mining skillcape) is a good level. At lvl 85, you can mine any ore you want.

Smithing: Levels 1-15 - Simply mine tin or copper ore, melt the copper into bronze bars, and then smith them into weapons. The process can be repeated until Smithing is Lvl 15. Levels 15-31 are the places where you can mine and melt iron. This isn't recommended as iron does not always create a bar. That's how I got to 31 levels. Instead, do The Knight's Sword Quest. It's very easy and instantly raises your smithing level up to 31.

Levels 31-99: By now, you should purchase a small amount coal and iron, and begin melting bars (make sure to buy two times the amount of iron contained in coal, e.g. 15 iron, 30 coal). They can't be forged, so just sell them at Grand Exchange (G.E.). Today, each steel bar sold at the G.E. earns you 914 grams. You can stop smelting steel bar once you reach 1M gp. You will lose some money, a lot in fact, but don't worry, by making rune-related items, make you can regain it all back by the time you get to around lvl 85.

Tips: What I found out this morning that I have am at lvl 68, is that I'm trying to reach 1M gp so that I can purchase all of the gold ore I require to get to 99. I will mine the required coal and smelt 15 bars once I can smelt a different metal (for me it will be at level 70, with an the addy). As I advance in my levels, I will be able to 2007 RS Items craft the weapons I desire and later sell them for more money and gain exp. when I sell at G.E.
