Looking at our review of the first release of NBA 2K MT Coins, nearly all my cons are still present. MyCareer's story remains shallow, the internet servers continue to be aggressively mediocre, and microtransactions continue to be intrusive. When you add the fact that 2K didn't offer you free upgrades for existing owners, forcing them to either buy the $100 version or purchase it independently for $70, it's hard to say that NBA 2K21 on next-gen is the piggy salvation for a continuously unsatisfactory franchise.

The NBA Draft happened on Wednesday night, and very honestly, considering the way COVID-19 has impacted the development of NBA 2K21 along with the team, I didn't expect to see that the rookies added into the game until following month.However, 2K had a nice surprise for fans on Thursday morning. The whole draft class was added to the appropriate teams, and the trades that were made official with the league had already been updated.

2K also smartly utilized the scans from the rookies it used in MyTeam to get NBA 2K20, and added a few more to add a bit of authenticity to the upgrade. Evidently, due to COVID-19, 2K was unable to scan every player.However, the developers didn't a pretty solid job using their own create-a-player package to fill in the gaps for the rookies they were unable to scan.
