Even if they slay for those drops most of the RuneScape gold gain wont come from them, especially on ice wyrms they have drops that are amazing, the SOL is just a small bonus. The 1/540 comes from the average drop (mite be 520 cant remember) but it comes from players submitting how many kills it requires them to have a whip, yes its possible to get in your scope, but that isnt the drop rate.
Helm of Neitiznot - it is a good'balanced' helm, get Verac's/Torag's helm should you want more defensive stats or Fighter hat to get offensive stats (about the same stats as a Rune full helm but together with bonuses in the Stab, Slash and Crush attack styles)
Guthans Plate - Adequate, Fighter torso gives a wonderful Power bonus so that it's also a good option if you can't manage Bandos; also I am not 100% sure about this but I believe Buy old school runescape gold Torag's (and Dharok's) gives slightly better defensive stats and is only worth 650kish so it's well worth getting imo.
